Lukas Kubeja is an artist born in Tacoma, Washington, raised in Portland, Oregon, and educated in New York City. His body of oil paintings investigate the contemporary realities of life as it blends increasingly with digital media, touching on themes of isolation, longing, grief, and nostalgia.

Beginning with deep-internet research and a diaristic photography practice, Lukas builds an image archie which evolves into the subjects of his paintings. Influenced heavily by the brutal honesty of the Ashcan School and mid-20th century American Realists, he explores a similar dismal view of critical issues and documents the trepidatious era in which he came of age.

Lukas recently showed two pieces at the U-haul Gallery Art Fair in New York City (September 5-7, 2025) and is continuing to expand on his body of work in preparation for a debut solo show in 2026.
